Bengal and North Western Railway Battalion

The Bengal and North Western Railway Battalion were an auxiliary regiment under the Bengal command. They comprised staff of the Bengal and North-Western Railway.

Chronology

• 1879 raised on 14th June as Bengal and North Western Railway Volunteer Rifles
• 1892 amalgamated with the Tirhoot State Railway Volunteer Rifle Corps on 17th June (GGO 573, dated 17th June 1893)
• 1901 designation altered (GOCC No. 327, dated 29th April 1901)
• 1917 1st April became 22nd Bengal and North Western Railway Battalion
• 1920 redesignated Bengal and North Western Railway Battalion on 1st October
