Chronology
- 1801 raised as the Ceylon Native Infantry from Sinhalese and later some Madras sepoys
- 1803 2nd Battalion formed of Malays from Ceylon and Cochin
- 1804 2nd Battalion became Charles Baillie's Regiment of Foot
- 1807 became the 2nd Ceylon Regiment
- 1822 disbanded
