The Sindia State Railway construction commenced in 1876 and the Engineers-in-Charge being William Mitchell and Horace Bell. [1]

The railway was opened 1881 by the Maharaja Sindia of Gwalior and under the management of Sir W S S Bissett until 1885. [2] [3]

In 1886 the Sindia State Railway was operating out of Agra Cantonment station along with Rajuputana Railway. [4]

There is no clear information on the history thereafter. It is thought that the line was being worked by Indian Midland Railway(IMR) in 1890 [5]

It seems most likely that the Sindia State Railway joined with the IMR which had a comparatively brief existence before being amalgamated in 1900 with the Great Indian Peninsula Railway(GIPR)
