In fact the line is still owned today by the London based company [[Central Provinces Railway Co Ltd]] (CPR), however grouped under [[Central Railway]] of Indian Railways since 1952 which operate it on lease, extended from time to time. The railway is operated in two separate branches from main line (BG) Junction station at Murtazapur(today called Murtajapur) to Ellichpur (now called Achalpur) 76 Kms., and Murtazapur to Yeotmal (now called Yavatmal) 113 Kms.

The NG line is also well known in the region as “[[Shakuntala Railway]]” and an attempt was commenced in 2003 to preserve the line - progress is unknown.
