== Summary ==
At the end of 1773 the Nawab of Oudh [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shuja-ud-Daula Shuja-ud-Daula] asked [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warren_Hastings [Warren Hastings]] for assistance in a punitive campaign against the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rohillas Rohillas]. The 2nd Brigade of the Bengal Army was dispatched under [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Champion Colonel Alexander Champion] and entered Rohilkhand on 17 April 1774. On 23 April the Rohillas under [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hafiz_Rahmat_Khan Hafiz Rahmat Khan] were defeated at [[Battle of Kutra|Miranpur Katra]]. Rohilkhand was occupied by [[Oudh]].
