The Barharwa-Azimganj-Katwa Railway opened in 1913 as a Branch/Link line from Katwa on the Hooghly-Katwa Railway to Barharwa on the Sahibganj Loop. This 110 Mile (170km) track was worked by East Indian Railway(EIR), and now under the jurisdiction of Eastern Railway [1] [2].
