Summary

After the Recapture of Calcutta, Clive determined attack the French settlement at Chandernagore. His force occupied the town surrounding the fort and siege guns were disembarked from Watson's squadron. On 23 March there was a heavy artillery duel between the British ships and the fort guns. Eventually the French asked for terms and the British occupied the fort.
