In 1916-17 the conversion of the [[Teesta-Kurigram Railway]] section of KKR from NG to metre gauge([[Rail_gauge_#Metre_Gauge|MG]]) was sanctioned by Government of India([[Government of India |GoI]]) under the agency of the East Bengal Railway(EBR). The NG rolling stock thus released was to be transferred to the Khulna–Bagerhat Railway

Following conversion to MG the [[Teesta-Kurigram Railway]] was worked by, and absorbed into, the East Bengal Railway(EBR)network
Between 1928-1929, the Kaunia-Teesta section was converted to metre gauge([[Rail_gauge_#Metre_Gauge|MG]]) and that from [[Teesta-Kurigram Railway]] section to broad gauge([[Rail_gauge#Broad_Gauge|BG]]).
