The Southern Mahratta Railway Rifles were a volunteer corps.
Chronology
- 1885 raised 21st August as the Southern Mahratta Railway Rifles (Madras GO No. 439)[1]
- 1898 28th January, absorbed the Bellary Volunteer Rifle Corps by GGO No 109[1]
- 1910 amalgamated on 4th June to become Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway Rifles[2]
