Thayetmyo is a port on the right (western) bank of the Irrawaddy River. It was situated in Thayet District, which was the northern district of the Pegu division

There was a cantonment at Thayetmyo, built in 1854.

A brief comment that in 1877-8 Thayetmyo was a Frontier Station[1]

It is likely that Thayetingo ,where British troops were based, is the same place as Thayetmyo
