The Bhopal-Itarsi Railway comprised two sections:-
- The longer section was an Indian States Railway, the Bhopal State Railway, opened 1884.
- The shorter section was classified as a State Railway and opened in 1885.
Together they formed the Bhopal-Itarsi Railway linking Bhopal and Itarsi.
Initially worked by Indian Midland Railway(IMR) and amalgamated into GIPR(GIPR) in 1900.
