Eyre Coote

Lieutenant-General Sir Eyre Coote KB (1726-1783) served alongside Robert Clive during the campaign against the Nawab of Bengal. He commanded the forces of Madras against the French in the Carnatic and later the forces of Bengal. After a period in UK, he returned to India and won major battles in the 2nd Mysore War. He was a Commander-in-Chief in India.
