Summary

At the end of 1773 the Nawab of Oudh Shuja-ud-Daula asked Warren Hastings for assistance in a punitive campaign against the Rohillas. The 2nd Brigade of the Bengal Army was dispatched under Colonel Alexander Champion and entered Rohilkhand on 17 April 1774. On 23 April the Rohillas under Hafiz Rahmat Khan were defeated at Miranpur Katra. Rohilkhand was occupied by Oudh.
