Chronology

  • 1838 raised as Oudh Auxiliary Force Cavalry for service with the King of Oudh
  • 1844 transferred to the Bengal Army as 6th Irregular Cavalry
  • 1861 reorganised as the 4th Bengal Cavalry
  • 1900 became the 4th Bengal Lancers
  • 1903 became the 4th Lancers
  • 1904 became the 4th Cavalry
  • 1922 absorbed by the 2nd Lancers (Gardner's Horse)
