- 1759 raised as 1st Sutherland Fencibles
- 1763 disbanded
- 1779 2nd Sutherland Fencibles raised by Lt-Col Wemyss
- 1793 3rd Sutherland Fencibles raised by Lt-Col Wemyss disbanded 1799
- 1799 93rd Regiment raised by Maj-Gen Wemyss
- 1881 amalgamated with the 91st (Argyllshire Highlanders) Regiment of Foot to become 2nd Battalion of the Princess Louise's (Sutherland and Argyll Highlanders)
- 1968 amalgamated with the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers (5th Foot), The Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers (6th Foot) and the Lancashire Fusiliers (20th Foot) to form 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers
