The Anklesvar-Rajpipla Railway was an Indian State 2ft 6in/762mm narrow gauge(NG) railway opened in 1897 and used for famine relief 1899-1902. It was originally opened under the auspices of Maharana Chhatrasinhji, Raja of Rajpipla and was a 40 mile(64km) railway line connecting Rajpipla to Ankleshwar on the main Delhi-Ahmedabad-Bombay line [1].
The line was constructed and worked by the Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway(BB&CIR)and used for massive famine relief during the period 1899-1902.
In 1899 renamed the Rajpipla State Railway the line became part of Rajpipla State Railway; worked by Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway(BB&CIR) and owned by the Princely Rajpipla State. [2].
The gauge was converted to broad gauge(BG) in 2013. [3].
