The Baria State Railway was an Independent Princely railway owned by Baria State; The line was a 2ft 6in/762mm narrow gauge(NG) railway; opened 1863.
Later (date not determined) became the Baria-Piplod State Railway; also known as Piplod-Devgad-Baria Railway linking the towns of Baria and Piplod
The line was worked by Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway(BB&CIR)
In 1948 the railway was merged to form the Saurashtra Railway

This Fact File contains invaluable advice on 'Researching ancestors in the UK records of Indian Railways' with particular reference to the India Office Records (IOR) held at the British Library An on-line search of the IOR records relating to this railway [1] gives the following: -
- L /F/8/20/1763 “Bombay Baroda and Central India Railway Company, Agreement for working of Baria State Railway Government of H.H. the Raja of Baria State; 1929”
