  • 1859 formed as the Bhopal Levy
  • 1865 became the Bhopal Battalion
  • 1824 became 9th Regiment of Bombay Native Infantry
  • 1885 became 9th Regiment of Bombay Infantry
  • 1903 became 9th Bhopal Infantry
  • 1922 became 4th Battalion (Bhopal) 16th Punjab Regiment
  • 1947 allocated to Pakistan on Partition
