The Board of Commissioners for the Affairs of India is often referred to as the Board of Control and was created after East India Company Act (Pitt's India Act) 1784 was brought in to try and regulate the East India Company. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Secretary of State, and four Privy Councillors were the Board of Control. The Privy Councillors were nominated by the King.
