Marie Mallam, the wife of Lt. Colonel G.L.Mallam of the IPS (Indian Political Service) from 1934 lived in Kohat where her husband was Deputy Commissioner. The Mallam Welfare Centre in Kohat for Maternal and Child Welfare was the first of other similar clinics and she was awarded the Kaiser-I-Hind silver medal. She died in 1944, age 40.
