A city in the south-east of Kolar District, Mysore State, which was a Princely State. The city, located 98km from Bangalore, was established in 1887, and now produces all of India's gold.

Mining companies

Mining companies included Mysore, Champion Reef, Ooregum, Nundydroog and Balaghat.[1]
