== Summary ==
News came of the uprising at [[Allygurh]] and the European women and children were escorted to [[Agra]] by the Assistant Magistrate, Mr J N Power. Three companies of the [[9th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry|9th BNI ]] mutinied, plundered the treasury and carried off all the ammunition they could. Lieutenant De Kantzow bravely tried to dissuade them and barely escaped with his life.
