The '''South Behar Railway''' Company was formed in 1895. The broad gauge([[Rail_gauge#Broad_Gauge|BG]])

The railway was privately owned by the South Behar Railway Company and was leased to the State to be worked as part of the [[East Indian Railway]](EIR) network. The railway was taken over by the Government of India([[Government of India |GoI]]) in 1906 but continued to be operated by the EIR < ref name=Admin/>.[
