Thayetmyo, a port on the right (western) bank of the Irrawaddy River, was the headquarters of Thayetmyo District in the Minbu Division of Burma during the British period. A cantonment was built in 1854.

A brief comment that in 1877-8 Thayetmyo was a Frontier Station[1]

Spelling variants

Modern name: Thayetmyo
It is likely that Thayetingo, where British troops were based, is the same place as Thayetmyo.
