* The Scudder family.
Four generations of the Scudder family served as medical missionaries in South India, beginning with John Scudder, Snr. (1793-1855) who went to Ceylon in 1819 and then in 1836 to Madras. The legacy of the 42 members of this family is still evident in India today.
