Raised as the [[East Indian Railway Volunteer Rifle Corps]] on 17th July 1869. The [[Sibpore College Volunteer Rifle Corp]] amalgamated with the regiment on 20th May 1890 and [[St Michael's School Cadet Corp]] amalgamated with the regiment as the the [[7th East Indian Railway Battalion]] on 1st April 1917. The regiment became the [[7th East Indian Railway Corp]] on 8th November 1918 and known as the East Indian Railway Regiment from 1st Ocober 1920. Amalgamated with the [[Oudh and Rohilkhand Railway Battalion]] in 1926. The regiment had two battalions.
