The Dhond-Baramati Railway 2ft 6in/762mm narrow gauge(NG) railway was under construction in 1913 and owned by Central Provinces Railway Co Ltd(CPR).

The line opened 1914-15 and it added to the prosperity of the sugarcane industry in the region. It was worked by Great Indian Peninsula Railway(GIPR) [1] [2] [3]

The railway came under Government of India(GoI) management from 1925.
