Chronology

  • 1761 raised as 9th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
  • 1857 mutinied at Allygurh 23 May

In 1861 after the mutiny the title was given to the 63rd Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry which later became 9th Gurkha Rifles
