Chronology

1694 raised by Colonel Thomas Farrington with the name of the current colonel
1698 disbanded
1702 reformed
1751 Colonel Peregrine Hopton's Regiment became the 29th Regiment of Foot
1782 retitled as the 29th (Worcestershire) Regiment of Foot
1881 amalgamated with the 36th (Herefordshire) Regiment of Foot and became the 1st Battalion The Worcestershire Regiment
1970 amalgamated with The Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment) to become Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment
2004 amalgamated with the 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment and the Staffordshire Regiment to form the new Mercian Regiment
