  • 1824 became 13th Regiment of Madras Native Infantry
  • 1885 became 13th Regiment of Madras Infantry
  • 1903 became 73rd Carnatic Infantry
  • 1922 became 1st/3rd Madras Regiment
  • 1928 became 11th Battalion Madras Pioneers
  • 1933 became 11th Madras Battalion ITF
  • 1941 September became 2nd Battalion, The Madras Regiment
  • 1942 redesignated 1st Battalion, The Madras Regiment
  • 1947 allocated to India on Partition
