  • 1755 raised as the 59th Regiment of Foot at Gloucester
  • 1756 became the 57th Regiment of Foot
  • 1782 became the 57th (the West Middlesex) Regiment of Foot
  • 1881 amalgamated with the 77th Regiment of Foot to become the 1st Battalion The Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex Regiment)
  • 1966 amalgamated with three other regiments to become the 4th Battalion The Queen's Regiment
  • 1973 4th Battalion disbanded
