The Ajmer Regiment was an Indian States Forces, or ISF, Regiment raised during the Second World War. IFS regiments were raised by the Princely States. However, as Ajmer was administered directly by the British, and does not appear to be classified as a Princely State, it is not clear why the regiment is classified as an IFS regiment.
The 1st and 2nd Battalions of the Ajmer Regiment were converted from the 26th and 27th Battalions, 4th Bombay Grenadiers, and disbanded after the war. [1]
