Synopsis
The Afghans in the village of Bemaru north of the cantonment were in the habit of harassing foraging parties. Brig Shelton took a contingent and occupied the hill overlooking the village but an attempt to storm its defences was mishandled. The enemy occupied adjacent heights. Outnumbered and in danger of being cut off, Shelton was forced to withdraw to the cantonment.
