General Nott's army was encamped and forage for horses was being collected. When a rumour started that grasscutters had been attacked, Capt Delamain took off with a party of cavalry. The rumour proved false but Delamain was abushed by Afghan infantry and cavalry. He suffered casualties and was forced to retreat in confusion.
