Burma, Ela Forest Tramway

The Burma Forest Department, Pyinmana Division, leased the Ela Forest hardwood concession to the 'U BA Teak & Hardwood Co Ltd'. An extensive 2ft/610mm narrow gauge(NG) tramway system was in use by 1924-25. In 1925-26 it was reported that it ran from Ela to Sabien, Sabien to Minye and Sabien to Nagoo. The line worked to a sawmill at Ela, owned by 'A V Joseph & Co'. The system was still in use in 1939-40. The system is reported to have used seven locomotives, identity unknown [1].
