Calcutta Storm Water Construction Railway

Between 1898 and 1905 the remodelling of the storm water outfall for Calcutta's was undertaken by Martin & Company. The Calcutta Municipal Railway system was used for this to convey materials for this project [1].

The project included a new town high level 8 feet(2.4 mtr) diameter sewer, a roadway 30 feet(9.1 mtr) wide over it and a combined sewerage channel for both city and suburban sewers with the necessary sluices, bridges, siphons etc.[1]
