Gorakhapur Forestry Tramway

The 'Gorakhapur Forestry Tramway', which was later known as the 'Lacmipur Forest Tramway' (sometimes spelt Laxmipur) was 25 miles(40km) long and ran from Lachmipur to Chauraha. It was operated by the Gorakhapur Forest Division, United Provinces Forest Department [1].

The 2ft/610mm narrow gauge(NG) line was completed in 1925-26. The line was extended the following year from Charaha to Ikma on the Bengal and North-Western Railway(B&NWR). Steam locotives operated the line but number and details unknown. The system was abandoned in 1983 [1].
