How to interpret this infobox

The Hoshiarpur Doab Railway was a private company (The Hoshiarpur-Doab Branch Railway Company), that opened a number of railway lines between 1915 and 1917. All these lines were worked by North Western Railway(NWR) and were integrated into the NWR network. [1] [2]

  • Jullundur-Mukerian Railway, broad gauge(BG), between Jullundur and Mukerian, 44 miles (70km), opened 1915. Construction by the Hoshiarpur Doab Branch Railway Company; worked by NWR[1].
  • Phagwara-Rahon Railway, broad gauge(BG), between Phagwara and Rahon, 25 miles (40km), opened 1915. Construction by the Hoshiarpur Doab Branch Railway Company; worked by NWR[1].
  • Jaijon Extension Railway, broad gauge(BG), between Nawashahr and Jaijon; 19 miles, opened 1917. Construction by the Hoshiarpur Doab Branch Railway Company; worked by NWR[1].

The lines were all worked and apparently finally absorbed by North Western Railway(NWR) BG network

Refer to FIBIS Fact File #4: “Research sources for Indian Railways, 1845-1947” - available from the Fibis shop. This Fact File contains invaluable advice on 'Researching ancestors in the UK records of Indian Railways' with particular reference to the India Office Records (IOR) held at the British Library

An on-line search of the IOR records relating to this railway [3] gives the following: -

  • L/F/8/20/1658 “Hoshiarpur Doab Branch Railway Company Limited, Indenture supplemental to indenture dated 21st February 1917; 1922
