Hyderabad State Railway was the description given in 1871-72 to the original system of railways to be constructed with funds provided by the Nizam. The system included [1]:-
- broad gauge 5 feet 6 Inches(BG) railway under construction from Goolburga to Hyderabad.
- Also narrow gauge lines from Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Warrungal in a north-easterly direction to join the Chanda coal fields
- And a narrow gauge line from Warangal in a south-easterly direction towards the coast at Masulipatam .
Fibis Comment
- The broad gauge 5 feet 6 Inches(BG) from Goolburga to Hyderabad. Goolburga has not been identified but must have been Wadi Junction on the [[Great India Peninsula Railway. When it opened in 1874 it was called the Nizam's Railway - see separate page .
