Kharaghoda Magnesium Works Railway
The Magnesium Works at Kharaghoda, Surendranager District [1], Gujarat, was established in 1915 by the Valki family as the 'Pioneer Magnesium Works Limited'. It produced magnesium compounds from evaporated brine ponds.The records show that the works had a broad gauge(BG) locomotive [2].
Clearly the works were connected to the Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway, Patri Branch Line, 22 miles(35km), which had reached Kharaghoda in 1873 [3].
The route of the track within the works, or if the line extended to the salt pans, is not known.
