The North Bengal-Assam Connection Survey was undertaken in 1894 by Edward Gerald James McCudden of the Public Works Department [1].

No further information has been found but it seems most likely that this survey was the 'Manipur Route' of the Assam-Burma Connection Railway Project

The 'Manipur Route' was proposed by Robert Atwell Way in his 1896 report with a route described as:- 'Leaving the Assam-Bengal Railway near Lumding, via Manipur into the Kubaw valley at Tammu, and crossing the Chindwin near Yuwo, joined the Mu Valley Railway near Wuntho. [2]
