Chronology

  • 1793 raised as the 82nd Regiment of Foot
  • 1802 became the 82nd Regiment of Foot (Prince of Wales's Volunteers)
  • 1881 amalgamated with the 40th (2nd Somersetshire) Regiment of Foot to form The Prince of Wales's Volunteers (South Lancashire Regiment)
  • 1938 became The South Lancashire Regiment (The Prince of Wales's Volunteers)
  • 1958 amalgamated with The East Lancashire Regiment, to form The Lancashire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Volunteers)
  • 1970 amalgamated with the Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire) to form the Queen’s Lancashire Regiment
  • 2006 amalgamated with the King’s Own Royal Border Regiment and the King’s Regiment to become the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment (King's Lancashire and Border)
