Bezwada was the eastern end of the Nizam's Guaranteed State Railway(NGSR) and an important railway junction with the rest of India, connecting with the Bezwada-Madras Railway section of the Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway(M&SMR).

Gadag-Betageri is a city in the Gadag district in Karnataka. It was the headquarters of the taluka in the Dharwar District of Madras Presidency during the British period. It became a municipality with Bettigeri in 1859.
