- 1776 raised for service of the Vizier by Capt Stuart as 25th Battalion
- 1781 became 18th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1784 became 21st Battalion of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1794 in Rohilcund under Captain Knowles
- 1796 absorbed into 12th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1824 1st Btn 12th Regt became 12th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
2nd Btn 12th Regt became 1st Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
