Chronology
- 1758 raised as the 3rd Battalion of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1762 commanded by Captain Turner
- 1763 destroyed at the Battle of Manjee 1st July
Capt Turner was taken prisoner and died of flux at Mongheer. In 1764 the 4th (Grant) Battalion was renumbered 3rd Battalion. This became the 5th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry in 1824.
