1803 raised as 2nd Battalion Ceylon Native Infantry formed of Malays from Moluccas and Penang
1804 became Charles Baillie's Regiment of Foot
1805 absorbed Caffre Corps
1807 became the 3rd Ceylon Regiment
1814 recruitment changed to almost exclusively African slaves
1815 absorbed 4th Ceylon Regiment
1817 disbanded
