Chronology
- 1761 raised as the 5th Battalion of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1762 commanded by Captain Willson
- 1763 destroyed at the Battle of Manjee 1st July
Capt Willson was taken prisoner and was among 51 killed at Patna on 5 October 1763. In 1764 the 17th Battalion was renumbered 5th Battalion. This became the 7th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry in 1824.
