Chronology
- 1818 raised as ???? Levy
- 1823 became the 1st Btn 32nd Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
- 1824 1st Battalion became 63rd Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry under Major S H Todd
In the Indian Mutiny the regiment did not rebel and, in the ensuing disbandment of Bengal Army regiments, the 63rd became the ninth most senior.
- 1861 became 9th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry
