- 1823 raised as 2nd Btn 34th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry following 1796 reorganisation when previous 34th was absorbed by 9th Regiment
- 1824 2nd Battalion became 68th Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry under Major J H Cave
- 1857 mutinied at Bareilly 31 May
