The Benares-Rae Bareli Railway Survey was undertaken in 1883 by Hugh Lewin Monk of the Public Works Department(PWD) for the Railway Branch of PWD.
Rae Bareli is an intermediate station on the Benares (now Varanasi) to Lucknow Oudh and Rohilkhand Railway (O&RR) mainline.
